“Doc” Griggs is a medical doctor in New Orleans, La. He focuses on health and fitness education and is active in the community, as host of a weekly radio program, health columnist and contributor on local television.
Dr. Griggs graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received his M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr. Griggs is a native of Winston Salem, N.C., and made New Orleans his permanent home after completing medical school.
Dr. Griggs is active in the New Orleans community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Region of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Boys & Girls Clubs NFL-YET Center in New Orleans. Dr. Griggs also co-founded and directs the Broadmoor Basketball Association, a basketball program for at-risk youth. He has made it his life work to educate the community. Dr. Griggs participates in several community engagement events, activities and speaks on various subjects such as preventative medicine and life skills. Through his platform, “Get Checked, Get Fit, Get Moving,” Dr. Griggs brings fitness and sports medicine awareness to schools, sports organizations and to the public via special events throughout the year.
Dr. Griggs has received numerous awards and is most proud of receiving the Robert C. Baird Award upon completion of medical school. He is an avid bicyclist and a strong proponent of bike safety.
