This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect about you, how we use it when you interact with Black Health TV and our services, and your choices regarding your data. We also detail how we protect your information. Please read it carefully.
This Privacy Policy applies to websites and mobile applications (Apps) owned and operated by Black Health TV for non-commercial personal, family, or household use. This includes BlackHealthTV.com, its mobile-optimized versions, and our Apps (collectively, the “Black Health TV Sites”). We refer to the Black Health TV Sites and Apps, along with the information and services available through them, as the “Services.”
Unless stated otherwise, this Privacy Policy’s statements about Black Health TV Sites also apply to our Apps. If you don’t want us to collect, use, or disclose your information as described in this policy, please don’t use our Services. By using the Services, you agree to our Black Health TV Terms of Use, which form a contract between us and our users. By accepting the Terms of Use, you confirm you’ve read and understood this Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy, and you acknowledge that we’ll store, use, and process your information in the United States, where we are located.
When we refer to “Black Health TV,” “we,” or “us,” we mean Black Health TV, including any companies Black Health TV controls (like subsidiaries). Black Health TV may share information among its subsidiaries or websites it owns or controls, but information collected under this Privacy Policy is always protected by its terms. Unless otherwise noted, Black Health TV is the data controller responsible for processing your personal information as described here.
Information We Collect About You
Some of our Services don’t retain your personal information, while others store it according to this Privacy Policy. Even if you don’t register or provide personal information to Black Health TV, we collect data about your use of the Black Health TV Sites, Apps, and Services. We may also get information about our users from external sources.
Here’s how we collect information when you use our Services:
Registration
While most Services don’t require registration, some do to function correctly. If you register or update an account, you might need to provide personal information like your name, address, phone number, gender, email, date of birth, and a username and password. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the personal information you submit to Black Health TV.
When you register or use the Black Health TV Sites, you’ll have the option to provide personal information to receive informational/promotional newsletters (e.g., about a specific health condition) from Black Health TV and/or third parties. We might also offer newsletter subscriptions on third-party websites. If you subscribe through a third-party site, that site’s operator will provide us with your personal information, which we’ll use according to this Privacy Policy as if you provided it directly.
If you believe one of your contacts provided us with your personal information and you want it removed, please use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of any Black Health TV Site page.
Market Research
From time to time, Black Health TV may conduct online research surveys for ourselves and third parties via email invitations, pop-up surveys, and online focus groups. If you participate, we might ask for your location, age, and, if there’s a sweepstakes, your name and contact info for administration. Survey information may be used by Black Health TV for research and measurement, including assessing content, advertising, or program effectiveness. Personal information provided for sweepstakes is used solely for administration and legal requirements. We won’t knowingly invite anyone under 13 to market research surveys. Surveys will link to this Privacy Policy.
User Reviews and Other Public Forums
Any information (including personal information) you share in a review, comment, or other public forum is public by design and not private. Please think carefully before posting any personal information in public forums. What you post can be seen, disclosed, or collected by third parties and used in ways we can’t control or predict, including for unauthorized contact. Like any public forum, your posts may appear in third-party search engines.
Emails You Send to Black Health TV
This Privacy Policy does not apply to information, content, business information, ideas, concepts, or inventions you send to Black Health TV by email. If you want to keep content, business information, ideas, concepts, or inventions private or proprietary, do not send them in an email to Black Health TV.
Services and Device Information
When you access and use our Services, Black Health TV automatically collects and stores information in its server logs from your browser or mobile device. This includes your IP address or unique device identifier, browser information (like referring URL), preferences, settings, cookies, and information about content viewed and actions taken (e.g., searches, ad engagement, clicks, dates, and times).
When you install and use an App, we may also collect device-specific information like your device model, operating system, advertising ID (a unique, user-resettable ID for advertising on mobile devices), App version, and usage information.
Precise Geolocation Data
When you enable it, we collect precise location information from your mobile device. We do this to provide more relevant content, including location-based advertising. You can disable the collection and use of your location data through your device settings. Refer to your device’s official knowledge base for instructions on changing location settings.
We and our partners use cookies to collect information about your use of the Services. Cookies are small data files placed on your browser when you visit a Black Health TV Site. They allow us to recognize your browser and collect/store information about your Service use.
Besides cookies, we and our partners use other tracking technologies like mobile identifiers and web beacons (small graphic files sometimes called “clear GIFs” or “web pixels”). These are embedded in web pages or emails to monitor activity and send relevant information back to a server (which could be the host site, an advertiser, or another third party). Information collected by these technologies may be combined with other data our partners have access to, including your name, email, and physical address, so we can send you materials, electronically or by mail, that might interest you.
Our advertising partners may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect information about your use of Black Health TV Sites, including content viewed. These third parties may use this to help Black Health TV deliver advertising on our Sites and other third-party websites based on your Browse activity on Black Health TV Sites. Black Health TV may further tailor advertising based on additional information known by us or these third parties.
We work with Google and Facebook. Google may use information collected through our use of its services on Black Health TV Sites as described in its privacy policy (see: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners). While Facebook doesn’t provide personal information to Black Health TV, it may use information it has about you and collects while performing services for Black Health TV (which may be linked to your personal info) as described in its privacy policy (see: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy).
We also work with third-party ad networks to display ads on our Black Health TV Sites and on third-party websites. Our ad vendors use technology to collect information about your activities on Black Health TV Sites and in our flagship App to provide cookie-based targeted advertising on our Sites and third-party websites based on your Browse activity and interests.
For more information about how cookies and other tracking technologies are used, please read our Cookie Policy.
When you download and install one of our Apps, we assign a random number to your App installation. This number doesn’t personally identify you unless you register as a user. We use this random number similarly to cookies, as described in this Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy. Unlike cookies, this number is assigned to the App installation itself (not your browser) and can’t be removed through browser settings. If you don’t want us to use this number, please don’t use the Apps. Our use of cookies and tracking technologies on mobile-optimized sites and our flagship App is similar to our desktop sites. Your choices to reject cookies and use opt-out mechanisms (described below in “Your Choices and Rights”) are available on our flagship App and mobile-optimized sites.
Cross-Device Tracking
We and our service providers collect and store information about users’ interactions with unaffiliated websites and applications that use our technologies (including cookies and similar tracking). This helps us infer if multiple devices belong to the same user or household. We do this to:
- Provide personalized advertising across devices based on Browse patterns.
- Detect and prevent fraud.
- Allow users to seamlessly continue using our service on different devices.
- Limit how many times a user sees the same advertisement across known or inferred devices.
How We Use Your Information
We may use information about your use of the Services for the following:
- To provide, improve, and create new Services.
- To respond to your inquiries and send administrative communications about the Black Health TV Sites and Services.
- To get your feedback about the Black Health TV Sites and Services.
- To send you secure electronic messages and personalized emails about your interests (inferred from your use), including news, announcements, reminders, and opportunities from Black Health TV.
- To statistically analyze trends and user behavior/activity (e.g., site visits, Service use, email open rates).
- To provide you and similar users with more relevant content, including advertising, both on and off Black Health TV Sites and Apps.
- To offer lead generation services.
- To detect and defend against fraud and other threats to our Services and users.
- To identify issues with the Services.
- To conduct research and measurement activities.
- To administer your account.
Additionally, Black Health TV may use your personal information for other purposes disclosed to you when we collect the information and/or with your consent.
Black Health TV may combine your personal information with other data collected about your Service use and supplement it with information from external sources for the purposes described here. For example, we might combine your information with third-party data (like age, gender, demographics, interests, product purchases) for research and measurement, including advertising effectiveness. We may report aggregate information (which cannot identify individual users) to current or prospective advertisers and business partners.
Black Health TV Subsidiaries and Corporate Affiliates
We may share your information with our subsidiaries, affiliates, and companies acquired by or merged with us. In the event of a corporate change of control (e.g., sale, merger, asset sale, bankruptcy), Black Health TV reserves the right to transfer your personal information to the new controlling party or asset acquirer. In such a case, your information will continue to be treated according to this Privacy Policy unless it’s updated as described in the “Changes to This Privacy Policy” section below.
Companies and Contractors that Work with Black Health TV
Black Health TV works with third-party companies and contractors who help us provide Services and assist with Site and App operations. This includes services related to technology, data analysis, research, email management, sweepstakes/contest administration, advertising, marketing, and content. Our contractors sometimes have limited access to your information to provide these services. We contractually require them not to use or disclose your information for any purpose other than providing the specific service for Black Health TV.
Third-Party Advertisers and Third-Party Websites
We may share information like cookie IDs or IP addresses with third-party advertising service providers. These providers may use this information on our behalf to help Black Health TV deliver advertising on our Sites and on other third-party websites, as further detailed in our Cookie Policy.
Some content, services, and ads on Black Health TV Sites are served on, or link to, websites hosted and operated by companies other than Black Health TV (“Third-Party Websites”). Black Health TV does not share your personal information with these Third-Party Websites without your consent. However, any information you disclose to these Third-Party Websites once you access them is not subject to this Privacy Policy. Black Health TV does not endorse and isn’t responsible for the privacy practices of Third-Party Websites. You should review their privacy policies to understand how they collect and use your information. Black Health TV makes an effort to make it clear when you’re leaving a Black Health TV Site and entering a Third-Party Website, either by requiring you to click a link or by notifying you. If you see phrases like “Powered by” or “in association with” followed by another company’s name, you are on a website hosted by that company. When you use a co-branded service (operated with a Black Health TV partner, like Content Partnerships), or register on a co-branded site, we may share collected information with that partner, which might include third-party service providers whose services are embedded in or appear within our Services.
We may also include social widgets on Black Health TV Sites that let you interact with social media services (e.g., to share an article). These widgets may collect Browse data, which the third party providing the widget may receive. These widgets are controlled by the third parties. You may be able to manage your privacy preferences directly with the applicable social network platform.
Compliance with Law, Regulation, and Law Enforcement Requests
To cooperate with government, law enforcement officials, and private parties to enforce and comply with the law, we may release personal information to third parties:
- To comply with legal requirements (e.g., law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena, court order).
- When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or others’ safety, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
- In special cases, such as in response to a physical threat to you or others, to protect property, or to defend or assert legal rights. Additionally, we may disclose personal information as described elsewhere in this policy.
How Your Information is Secured and Retained
We take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information. However, despite our efforts, there’s always some risk that an unauthorized third party might bypass our security systems or that internet transmissions could be intercepted.
The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter personal information (including personal health information in certain Services), we encrypt its transmission or use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology.
We will retain your personal information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Services to you. You can remove your personal information or ask us to remove it at any time. However, it’s not technologically possible to remove every record of your information from our servers. We will also retain your personal information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
