Hey there! Today I want to share some easy phrases with you in Kikongo, the native tongue of my grandmother.

My name is … – Nkumbu ame …
What is your name? – Nkumbu aku nani?
Yes – Ingeta
No – Nkatu
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – mosi, zole, tatu, (n)ya, tanu
Weekend – Kiasabala
Workdays – Kisabala
Excuse me. – Undoloka or ndoloka.
How much is this? – Nkia ntalu kiena?
I speak a little Kikongo. – Kikongo ivovanga fioti fioti.
I (we) like … – Tuzolele …
I am hungry. – Nsatu yena yame.
I am thirsty. – Nsatu a maza yena yame.
I am from the US. – Mono yatuka ku US.
Where is the airport? – Nsuku ndeke kue yena? or Kue kuena Nsuku ndeke?
Where is a pharmacy? – Nzo bilongo kue yena? or kue kuena nzobilongo?
Where is the restroom? – Kilosotu kue kiena?
I love you. – Ikuzolele, Ikuzolanga or Ngeye nzolele
