In this special Black History feature, staff from the Black Men’s Health Clinic (BMHC) reflect on the powerful legacies of: Dr. Mamie Clark, Dr. David J. Peck and Dr. Rebecca Crumpler.

Dr. Mamie Clark — psychologist whose work on self-perception and identity helped shape civil rights and child development research

Dr. David J. Peck — recognized as the first Black student to attend an American medical school, breaking barriers in medical education and paving the way for future generations of physicians.

Dr. Rebecca Crumpler — the first Black woman to earn a medical degree in the United States, dedicating her life to caring for underserved communities.

Through their stories, we celebrate resilience and the lasting impact of Black excellence in medicine.
